    Joseph Pennell, 1857-1926, Artist, illustrator, author, art critic, teacher, and wheelman. One of the most influential and best known printmakers of the early twentieth century, he was a member of the Philadelphia Society of Etchers and, although unconfirmed, the New York Etchers Club. He produced over 859 etchings and mezzotints, 621 lithographs, Pennell also illustrated and/or authored over 100 books, and numerous magazine and newspaper articles. This etching of a New York scene includes a locomotive. It is 12.5"x9" in a 24"x22" frame.
