| | This 10"doll was created by Kepka in honor of Grandmothers. The body is made like a feather bed which early pioneers slept under. Stripping goose feathers was an early winter pastime. The family would sit around the dining room table, each having a bowl turned upside down. The feather is taken off the vane and put under the bowl. When the bowl rises the stripped feathers were put in a bag. It took many bags of stripped goose feathers to make one feather bed. The featherbed body symbolizes a grandmother's warmth. |
