Layton, Elizabeth "Grandma"
|
| Grandma Layton suffered from depression for forty years. After being encouraged to enroll in an art class on contour drawing she found the vehicle which would release the emotions that had held her in bondage for 67 years. For up to eighteen hours a day she hovered over her makeshift drawing table where she poured out the fears, guilt and anger of her troubled life. Six months later, she announced that she was no longer depressed. She felt free at last. Avis Garrett-Baptist, Ph.D. is a Board Certified, Registered Art Therapist and a member of the American Art Therapy Association. She co-authored Drawing and Coloring For You Life, a 200-page book, including 92 drawings by Elizabeth Layton. Dr Garrett-Baptist's book My Indian in Me is her self-help autobiography to help readers enjoy life in a more creative way. |
